This is probably my favorite picture of my dad. I had seen it before, when I was a teenager and we still lived in the same house, and I found it again in a dusty photo album in his basement workshop a couple days after he died, in January of 2008.
What's not to like about this image? From the tattered white border, to the encroaching powerlines at the feet of his Chuck Taylors, this is an image to cherish--an image that would eventually fade, disintegrate, and be lost without the wonders of digitization.
This is one of the reasons I study and teach digital media.
